In order to protect your privacy, some sites will only handle requests using https.

Why doesn't this page redirect to the right url, then?

Redirections from insecure http content to secure https urls are trivial to intercept. The only real remedy is typing https:// in the address bar when you access private data.

We do use HSTS where appropriate to tell the browser about the policy, but at the time we are writing this message, only open-sourced browsers like Chromium/Chrome and Firefox have implemented this Internet Draft.
